Mandatory/Certificate Courses

MC1: Confined Space Entry (1 Day, $150pp)
Compulsory for supervisors and workers who enter or work in confined spaces. This course covers regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, atmospheric monitoring, rescue procedures CSA Standards and due diligence. We also offer a 2 day Confined Space Rescue Training. Participant Handbook, Wall Certificate and Laminated Wallet Certificate is included in price.

MC2: Fall Protection and Scaffolding Regulations (1 Day, $150 pp)
This course is for all workers, supervisors or health and safety committee members who are involved with working heights and building scaffolding. The course will provide understanding of required legislation, the difference between fall protection and fall arrest, the use of fall arrest equipment, and assessing the degree of risk and implementing control measures. Scaffolding portion of the program is based on CSA Z797 Standard. This standard requires a second day for practical training which covers hazard assessment, set up and tear down of the scaffolding and participants will be evaluated. MC3: OHS Training for Supervisors/Managers (Federal - 2 day program $150 pp/day) (Provincial - 1 Day $150pp)
This course provides managers, supervisors and those with health and safety responsibilities with the information they need to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and to develop a safety culture in the workplace. Topics include: Safety Principles and Risk Management; Due Diligence/Legislation; Hazard Recognition and Control; Job Hazard Analysis; Workplace Inspection and Accident Investigation; Program Development and Implementation; Communication and Coaching. The 2 day Federal course also covers Bill C45, Canada Labour Code, Maritime Regulations and Hazard Prevention Program. MC4: Transportation of Dangerous Goods (1 Day, $150 pp)
A legal requirement for all shippers, receivers and transporters of dangerous goods. Participants will learn the TDG regulations and how to fill out the necessary documentation for the transportation of goods by truck or rail. Participant Handbook from Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association and Wallet Certificate is included in the price.

MC5: WHMIS/GHS (½ Day, $100pp)
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System training is mandatory for all workers in Canada who handle or work with controlled products. The course covers legislation, how to read supplier labels and MDSD sheets, PPE required when dealing with controlled products and proper handling and storage. We also include a brief section on the GHS. Supervisors, managers and OSH committee members and representatives will also benefit from this training. MC6: OSH Committee/Safety Rep Training (Provincial - 1 Day, $150 pp or Federal - 2 day $150 pp/day)
This course is designed for Safety Committee Members / Safety Representatives. Participants will learn the responsibilities of a Health & Safety Committee and how their committee should function in order to be in compliance with Provincial and/or Federal legislation. Participants will also be provided with tools and information to assist in making their committees effective. The course covers Due Diligence, Legislation, Roles and Responsibilities, Terms of Reference, Communication Skills, Accident Investigation and Workplace Inspections. <MC7: Forklift Training (1 Day, $150 pp)
This course is mandatory for forklift operators. Course is designed to give specific training to the type of forklift (propane or electric). Topics include classifications, maintenance, inspection, fork capacity and load ratings, operating procedures. Each participant is given an on site evaluation. MC8: Fall Protection/Fall Arrest Training (1/2 Day, $100 pp)
This course is for all workers, supervisors or health and safety committee members who are involved in working with heights. This course is for all workers, supervisors or health and safety committee members who are required to follow Infection Prevention and Control Best Practices - NATIONAL STANDARD called the CCAR [Canadian Committee on Antibiotic Resistance]. Training will include: Internal Responsibility System, Due Diligence, and Introduction to the CCAR, WHMIS Specific, Micro Fiber, Green Cleaning, Cleaning and Disinfecting, Disease Transmission, Mould, Rodents, Ergonomics, Respiratory Protection [Fit Testing], Blood-Borne Pathogens, Exposure Control Plan, and Practical Exercises. C02: ISO 9001 Internal Auditing (2 Days, $500pp) - (in house programs include an onsite audit exercise)
Conduct your own ISO 9001 internal audits! This in-depth workshop provides you with an opportunity to explore the restructured five elements of the ISO 9001 Standard and learn how to perform process audits on a new or already implemented quality management system. You will create your own audit schedule for your organization and prepare questions for an actual audit to be performed on site. C03: Lock Out – Tag Out Program (½ Day, $100pp)
Course is designed for all OSH committee members, supervisors and those employees who need to control energy sources. The course is based on CSA 460/462 and discusses legislative requirements, lockout equipment, lockout systems, and program design. C04: Health & Safety Officer Training (5 Days, $1500pp)
This course is a must for anyone looking for a start or expanding in the health & safety field. The course covers
Day 1 : Due Diligence, NS Act & Regulations and how to interpret them, Canada Labour Code, safety program elements, health & safety committees, safety representative and manager/supervisor roles and responsibilities.
Day 2: Job Hazard Analysis, Workplace Inspections, Accident/Incident Investigation and PPE.
Day 3: WCB overview, WCB Claims Management, Rule Development, Ethics and Communication
Day 4: WHMIS Train the Trainer - all participants will be certified as a WHMIS trainer - covers presentation skills, lecturing and communications

C06: Crane, Hoist, Rigging and Slinging (1 Day, $150pp)
This course is a must for crane operators. The course covers types of cranes and hoists, identification and inspection, start up, preparation and planning for lifting, rigging loads, hand signals and operating procedures. C07: Mould Awareness(1day $150pp) /Mould Identification and Remediation (2 Days $500pp)
This course is a must for any worker who deals with mould in residential or commercial properties. The awareness portion (1 day) covers regulations, hazard assessments and identification of mould. The awareness portion does not include remediation. The remediation portion (Day 2) covers all required information for the remediation (removal) of mould and includes a practical component which requires participants to wear appropriate PPE and erect a containment area. Participants will also receive training on respiratory protection and will be fit tested if required. C08: Asbestos Awareness (1 day $150 pp) Asbestos Identification & Remediation (2Days $500 pp)
This course is a must for those who work or will be working with asbestos. The awareness portion (1 day) covers types of asbestos and characteristics, identification of areas containing asbestos, health effects, hazard ranking and removal priority, NS Code of Practice and the training required for each asbestos type. Participants also receive training on respiratory protection and will be fit tested if required. The remediation portion (Day 2) covers quality control, monitoring, materials and equipment, work area preparation, isolation barriers, engineering controls, negative pressure measurement and removal procedures. Participants will receive practical training which requires participants to wear appropriate PPE and erect a containment area. C09: WHMIS/GHS - Train the Trainer (2 Days, $500pp)
This course is for companies or individuals looking to be a WHMIS trainer. The first day will cover regulations, how to read supplier labels and MDSD sheets, PPE required when dealing with controlled products and proper handling and storage, presentation skills, communications, and preparation for training. On day 2 participants will be required to complete a WHMIS presentation and be evaluated on their skills. All participants receive a WHMIS presentation CD. C10: Canada Labour Code Part ll (1 Day, $150pp)
This course is designed for all federally regulated workers, supervisors, and managers. The major causes of back injuries include: improper lifting techniques, cluttered aisles, improperly stacked supplies, lack of safety procedures and training, short cuts, failure to maintain equipment and inattention. Definite steps can be taken to help curb the incidence of back injuries. This ½ day course leads participants through effective ergonomic and general safety solutions to prevent injury. T13: Personal Protective Equipment – PPE (1 Day, $100pp/strong>
The objective of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program is to protect employees from the risk of injury by creating a barrier against workplace hazards. PPE is not a substitute for good engineering, administrative controls or good work practices, but should be used in conjunction with these controls to ensure the safety and health of employees. This course outlines the contents of an effective PPE program and provides participants with all the tools needed for successful implementation. T14: Silica Awareness Training (½ Day, $100pp
This course addresses the control of employee exposures to respirable dust containing crystalline silica, which is known to cause silicosis, a serious lung disease, as well as increase the risk of lung cancer and other systemic diseases. This training provides information on the effectiveness of various engineering control approaches for several kinds of construction operations and equipment, and contains recommendations for work practices and respiratory protection, as appropriate.
